The Count’s Top Ten Canuck Horror!
Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! Happy Tuesday to non-Canadians!
In honor of my nations birthday, check out my top ten Canadian Horror movies. As with most of my top Ten list, they’re in no particular order.
Black Christmas - Slasher perfection.
Ginger Snaps - The Howling meets Degrassi High. One of the best Canadian Horror films of the last decade.
Rabid - I’m not gonna have a list of Canadian horror and not include any Cronenberg. This was clearly an inspiration for films like 28 Days Later and The Signal.
Deathdream - It’s The Monkey’s Paw with shades of Vietnam.
Cube - Shows what you can do with only one set.
The Changeling – Back when George C Scott was in a movie every week.
My Bloody Valentine – Really fun 80’s Slasher.
Scanners- Have to get some more Cronenberg on here. Greatest exploding head scene ever!
Rituals – Survivalist horror classic. Still not released on a legit region 1 DVD.
Deranged - Of all the tales of terror inspired by Ed Gein, this one is closest to the true story. Early Tom Savini make-up effects as well.
